The City Hall atrium is swept clean several times daily, so as you walk in you aren't liable to encounter even a spec of dust. The floor is made of brownish marble, as are the eight pillars, four to a side, that reach to the roof. The most typical place for people to pass is carpeted, leading to the other end of the room where the visitor's desk is manned by a bright-eyed young man and his older coworker, a distinguished and decidedly bored looking old gentleman. Here is where you would ask to book an appointment with the Mayor, if for some reason you wanted to see him.
The left fork of the carpeted path leads deeper into the city hall, and you'll need an appointment or a press pass to go deeper in, unless there's some sort of vote called in which case citizens are allowed to attend. To the right is something a bit more interesting to trainers, which is obvious just from the cloud of them standing around it, as well as those actually going in and out. This is the Contract office, a place for people with Pokemon to make some extra scratch on the side by helping people with their problems.
